A while back, we visited Myeongbeopsa in Sosabeol and ended up exploring Deokdongsan Neighborhood Park that is just adjacent to the temple. It was an accidental extra adventure, but one that we were glad to have found and experienced.
Deokdongsan Neighborhood Park
Just around the corner from Myeongbeop Temple is Deokdongsan Neighborhood Park – a scenic forest park complete with pavilions, hiking trails, MANY stairs, a war memorial dedicated to all those who have given their lives in defense of South Korea, exercise equipment, and breathtaking views. We spent a beautiful Sunday evening last fall exploring the area and I’m just now getting around to posting about it (as I’m procrastinating posting more about our Seoul trip).
One of the amazing things about the park is that although it sits right in the middle of a bustling city, you would never know it. There was a certain peace and quiet that permeated through the area and it was a great opportunity to feel like we were “away from it all” without actually having to go far away. We climbed over 600 steps and, yes, our legs were exhausted. And also, yes, it was worth the trek.
If you find yourself in need of a more relaxing adventure, check out Deokdongsan Neighborhood Park. It was beautiful in the fall – I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the spring!
’til next time…
