Riverboat Tour in Da Nang, Vietnam

Our first full day in Da Nang, Vietnam was spent swimming in the pool at our resort and adventuring down to the beach. After we’d had our fill of sun and water, we napped in the room and then felt ready to go on an adventure. We hadn’t had anything planned for that night, but we found a Riverboat Tour on the Han River and it seemed like just the kind of low-key adventure to get us started on ALL the other adventures!

Riverboat Tour on the Han River in Da Nang, Vietnam

I’m nothing if not honest on here, so I’ll admit that the Riverboat Cruise was absolutely not the most incredible thing we did on our vacation to Vietnam. It was planned last-minute (and a huge storm came rolling in only two hours before, so we were figuring it would be canceled anyway… but it wasn’t) and by the time we made it to the boat the two little girls were exhausted beyond all reason. All they wanted was momma, so I spent most of the boat ride cuddling them.

Still, when all was said and done, we were glad we ventured out of our resort. A riverboat tour is really a great way to see Da Nang – and it’s a really cool sight in the dark. Plus, we could still see lightning in the distance from the storm which made for a really cool (and weirdly relaxing) experience.

Our tour included water bottles and fresh fruit – watermelon, pineapple, and durian – and we purchased some fresh fruit smoothies and kem dua as well. The kem dua was absolutely the star of the show. It’s ice cream served in a hollowed-out coconut with all kinds of toppings including coconut shavings. It was absolutely delicious and something I still crave at times (which I feel like I say about almost all the food we had in Vietnam).

We loved seeing the Dragon Bridge changing colors at night. And if you’ve been here a while, you’ll remember my post about the Dragon Bridge show that is absolutely something you shouldn’t miss while in Da Nang.

The riverboat tour on the Han River was a fun experience – and a great stepping-stone into some of the more intense exploring we did during our time in Da Nang. If you’re in Da Nang and you have some time to kill, you won’t regret booking a boat tour!

’til next time…

How to take a riverboat tour on the Han River in Da Nang

We booked our tour with My Xuan Cruise through Get Your Guide. Looking back, I probably would have done more research and gone with a different company. This one advertised a live dancing performance and karaoke on the boat – neither of which actually happened. Still, being on the boat was fun and the views from the water were really incredible. I highly recommend going on a riverboat tour in Da Nang, but I recommend researching a variety of companies before deciding on which one to use.
