Plants on the Peninsula: Fall at Anseong Farmland

It’s been a little while since we made a trip anywhere specifically for the plant-life. Funny enough, I think the last time we ventured out for plants was when we went to Anseong Farmland for the Sunflowers in the summer. And yet, here we are, back at Anseong Farmland for the fall plants. What can I say? Anseong Farmland is ON POINT for all the seasonal blooms and we are here for it.

Fall Plants at Anseong Farmland

Last year, I made no secret about my love for the pink muhly grass. We visited Nae-ri Park a number of times with the SOLE purpose of admiring the bright pink grass. So this year, when I started seeing my friends post dreamy pictures of the pink fluff, I knew that we needed to experience it one more time before we move away. So on a Friday afternoon, I packed the kids up and we headed out to Anseong Farmland for a little fall adventure. And we learned the hard way that we’ve officially reached to point in the fall where sweaters are a necessity. I lost count of the number of Ajummas saying 아기 추운 (“baby cold”) – and, to be fair, my older kids were in shorts and T-shirts and were, in fact, very cold. Still, the sun was shining and when the wind wasn’t blowing, we all stayed plenty warm.

Right next to the field of pink muhly grass is an incredible hillside covered with Cosmos – with the occasional Sunflower mixed in. And it is a SIGHT. If you’re looking for a sign to visit South Korea in the fall, this is it folks. Korea knows how to showcase their incredible plants, and this was absolutely no exception. The kids – despite being cold – loved wandering through the many paths on the hill of Cosmos – and I enjoyed practicing my amateur photography skills.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Anseong Farmland without visiting the many different animals. Pigs, donkeys, horses, cows, mini horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, and so many more make this farm such a fun place for the kids. We all enjoyed watching the baby goats go in and out of the goat pen (as they were small enough to fit between the slats in the fence) and they were all so sweet – to the point where my kids are now begging me to let them get a baby goat.

This is likely the last chance we will have to visit Anseong Farmland, and it was absolutely worth the trip. If you’re looking for a great place to enjoy some of the fall blooms on the Peninsula, I highly recommend making a trip out to Anseong Farmland.

’til next time…
